The first thing I wanted to do was go to a library, but the Minneapolis library wasn't open when we got there, so we played around on the local art.
The library opened at noon, so we went in and each got books from the regular stacks on topics of interest.
Dietrich: World War II
Anna: weather
Emily: birds
Nora: sea creatures
Papa: photography (Jeff Wall today)
Mommy: insects
Then we took them to the children's section and read for a while.
There Charis learned how to turn pages.
When we left the library we went to Lund's to get lunch: a baguette, cheese, salami, chips, and strawberries. And for Papa, a nice sushi plate. (Only later did I discover that two of my girls like
Sushi.)
We went to Minnehaha Park to eat the lunch, see the waterfall, and play around in the water.
Then we all posed for a family portrait
Later in the evening we went to another graduation party, but I forgot my camera.
The only thing left undone on my list was climbing a tree!
But maybe I can do that tomorrow.
In the meantime, here are two more little slideshows of Charis faces from today

Did you all notice? I took some pictures with the sacred camera!
Ha! That was one of the things I did notice! Hmm...who is that man with the children? Oh! It's my brother! Those were very nice pictures by the way, Jen! Perhaps you should get your own piece of sacred equipment!
I NOTICED!! Jon was in photos!!!
Looks like you had a great day. :)
Mmmmm....sushi. Perhaps we'll have to go out for an adult sushi night when you guys are out??
I have to add, Charis is so cute turning pages with her toes. There are a long line of Balsbaughs who can use their toes for thing usually reserved for fingers. Perhaps you already know that. Ugh!...feet....gag...blech!
Baby feet are okay though. :)
Wait....maybe you ARE one of those Balsbaughs Jon. If my memory serves me correctly, your feet are rather handy (sorry for the lame pun).
Sushi is Aaron and my favorite date night treat. One of the first things we did when we got here was try out the local sushi joints to find our favorite. There are some good ones. Adult date night a must. Oh but what about all 15 children? Who wants to foot the baby sitting bill on that one? Nothing will ever quite compare to our favorite one in Cali, Sushi of Naples. It is hard to compare when that was our first date spot when I visited. Sushi will always have a special place in my heart. By the way Lucy loves Sushi, and King Crab Legs. What a girl.
By the way, yes, we know Charis has a penchant for flipping people off. Janine pointed that out but then deleted her post. The kids have also noticed.
You know what's funny, Jodi? I looked at those pictures and though the same thing!
Okay, since I'm already tagged as the obscene sibling, I just decided to delete the comment. But yes, I think it's really funny that she's flippin' us all the bird in beginning of the last sequence.
;)
