Jen's Quote of the Day

"But if you cultivate a healthy poverty and simplicity, so that finding a penny will literally make your day, then, since the world is in fact planted in pennies, you have with your poverty bought a lifetime of days."

Cultivating a healthy poverty. I've been thinking about that all day. In what ways could we do that? Reducing our everyday spending and with that money give, invest and give more.

Still thinking about that (although I have no idea what context the quote is in.)

Great quote.

I don't think it's a monetary poverty only. The chapter is called "Seeing" and I think it's about how much we DON'T see of what's around us. How completely overwhelming th world is.

I have this quote in my long list of "quotable quotes" from Annie Dillard.

I think it's time to read this one again.
