(i'm pretty sure i'm right about this, but if anyone knows for sure otherwise, do correct me!)

one thing i love is finding people i see frequently who have amazing personal libraries. it gives me an excuse to borrow books without having to worry about library late fees. my parents have a ton of books, but i don't feel any particular hurry in getting to them since i think i'll have access to them for a while. a family i nanny for part-time has a pretty decent library, but most are the dad's, business-related, and i've exhausted most of the ones i want to read. BUT. a family i just started babysitting for has an amazing library. i think the mom was an english major before going to med school, and she has lots of books i've been meaning to read. [they're all old paperbacks, which i really love reading. their font face is usually pretty ugly, and the pages are yellowed, but all of that emphasizes for me the value of the meaning of the words themselves, instead of the value of the physical object.] the thought of having access to all those books is the kind of thing that makes me want to rub my hands together with glee. but it's not something i'd be able to enjoy in a world that's fully kindled.

book sharing is fun. and it's cheap! i'd miss that about physical books.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1379841467307950298.post-38417851062249780562009-04-30T10:20:00.000-05:002009-04-30T10:20:00.000-05:00Just made that connection on the other post.
