Alec Soth - Sleeping by the Mississippi

I just got back from one of the most amazing photo exhibitions I've ever seen, Alec Soth's Sleeping by the Mississippi at the Minneapolist Institute of Arts.

I came away stunned.

It's a simple exhibition but rich, resonant, and full of religious significance. It's like Huck Finn in the 21st century.

If you can get to the MIA before it closes on Sunday get down there.

If not, you can view the images small and drained of some of their iconic value at Sloth's web site. In person they are large prints, prints that bear a close scrutiny that pays huge dividends.
